Getting there and the Corralejo terminal

Both operators depart from the Puerto de Corralejo in the municipality of La Oliva, right in the middle of town. Naviera Nortour has its office at the harbour entrance next to the Bar La Lonja; Ferry Isla de Lobos sells tickets at the jetty. By bus, take line 6 to Corralejo, to the final stop at the harbour. By car, allow around 45 minutes' extra time in summer, as finding parking at the harbour can take a while. From Puerto del Rosario it's around 40 kilometres via the FV-1.

Permit for the Isla de Lobos

The island is a nature reserve, and the Cabildo de Fuerteventura limits the number of visitors: since 2019 you have needed a permit, which the Cabildo issues free of charge via lobospass.com, in two time slots, 10:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 18:00. Both operators will apply for it alongside your online booking on request; Nortour states a deadline of up to five days ahead for its own application to the Cabildo. Bring the permit with you, as it can be checked on the island.

Check-in and departure

With Naviera Nortour, boarding closes 10 minutes before departure; tickets are available online, at the harbour office, and on board while spaces last. With Ferry Isla de Lobos, go to check-in at the jetty 20 minutes before departure. Together the two run around seven crossings a day, all year round; Nortour only suspends service on four public holidays, and sailings are cancelled in wind and rough seas. For the return trip you choose a time at booking, and can take an earlier boat if spaces are free.

On board

Naviera Nortour sails with the Barco Majorero, a wooden excursion boat with a glass bottom for 150 passengers that has run the route since the 1990s, and with the smaller Majorero Express. Ferry Isla de Lobos uses the Ferry Lobos Island and the Celia Cruz with its 16 underwater windows. The crossing takes 15 to 20 minutes, with views of the volcanic cone La Caldera and sometimes marine life. Payment is in euros, by card.

Bus and ferry from Caleta de Fuste and the south

Ferry Isla de Lobos sells a combined ticket covering a bus transfer and the crossing: currently Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from Caleta de Fuste, and Fridays from the south around Costa Calma and Morro Jable, with hotel pick-up available on request. The bus runs to the jetty in Corralejo in the morning and back in the afternoon; allow around 80 minutes each way for transfer and crossing from Caleta de Fuste, and around 140 minutes from the south. Travelling on other days, you get to Corralejo by your own car or the island buses.

Vehicles, bicycles and pets

There are no roads or motor vehicles on Lobos, so the car stays in Corralejo. Naviera Nortour carries bicycles as an add-on to your booking. Pets are banned on the island: Ferry Isla de Lobos does not carry animals on board, and with Nortour small dogs under five kilos may only join the boat trip, without going ashore. Arrival in El Puertito and a day on Lobos

The boats dock in El Puertito, the island's only jetty, a former fishing hamlet with a small bay. It's a seven-minute walk to the beaches - left to Playa de la Concha, right to El Puertito; the loop around the island past the Punta Martiño lighthouse takes around two and a half hours. There is only one restaurant and it does not take reservations, so bring water and food, plus sun protection and sturdy shoes. The permit is valid for four hours, after which you take one of the boats back to Corralejo.

Tickets and fares

Both operators sell online and at the harbour, with fixed fares for a return crossing and discounts for children and residents; the state resident discount for inter-island ferries does not apply on the Lobos route. Naviera Nortour advertises free cancellation, while Ferry Isla de Lobos refunds cancellations made up to 48 hours before the trip and sailings cancelled due to weather.
