Getting there and the Órzola terminal

Órzola is a small fishing village at the northern tip of Lanzarote with parking right at the harbour. From Arrecife it's around 35 kilometres via the LZ-1 and the LZ-201 through Haría, about 40 minutes from the airport. Both operators have their sales points at the harbour, with Biosfera Express on Calle La Quemadita at the Puerto de Órzola. Without a car, you can get there by bus from Arrecife with a change in the north; the times don't line up with every ferry, so it's worth checking the bus timetable.

Check-in and departure

For Líneas Romero, the boarding time on your ticket applies, and you load your boarding pass onto your phone. Biosfera Express sells online and at the harbour desk; here too you go to the jetty with your booking on your phone. The first ferry departs in the morning, the last in the early evening; from late March to October, Líneas Romero adds extra evening sailings. In the holidays, at weekends, and for the early departures, it's worth booking ahead - otherwise you can get a ticket for the next ferry at the harbour.

On board

Líneas Romero sails with the AlexandroR, Biosfera Express with its own fast ferry; both take 25 minutes for the roughly six kilometres across the Río. There is seating inside and outside, and Biosfera Express offers Wi-Fi on board. You won't need cabins or catering on such a short crossing - pack water and food for the island in Órzola. Payment is in euros, by card.

Vehicles, bicycles and pets

Cars, motorhomes and motorbikes stay on Lanzarote, as La Graciosa is closed to private vehicles. Bicycles come along; with Biosfera Express, sports luggage counts free of charge, and both operators carry luggage free of charge. Arrival in Caleta de Sebo and onward travel

The ferry docks right in Caleta de Sebo, the island's only settlement and port. Licensed 4x4 taxis wait at the harbour to take you to the beaches and the second hamlet, Pedro Barba; you can hire a bicycle in the village or bring your own. For the Playa de las Conchas in the north, allow around 45 minutes by bike, or a good two hours on foot. If you want to see the island in a day, take one of the early ferries and the second-to-last one back.

Tickets and fares

Both operators sell online and at the harbour, with fixed fares for a one-way and a return crossing. Líneas Romero advertises a flexible ticket and discounts for residents and large families; with Biosfera Express you can change date and time free of charge and cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before departure, with residents and large families paying less.
