Getting there and the Las Palmas terminal
Baleària Canarias departs from the Puerto de la Luz, the large port in the north of Las Palmas, around ten minutes' walk from the Parque Santa Catalina. By car in the city, follow the signs for Puerto and Estación Marítima; it's around 25 kilometres from the GC-1 motorway from the south and from the airport. The island buses terminate at the Parque Santa Catalina, from where you walk to the terminal or take a taxi with luggage.
Check-in and departure
With Baleària Canarias you need to be at the terminal 60 minutes before departure without a vehicle and 90 minutes with one. Bring ID or a passport in your hand luggage, and residents show proof of address for the discount. Departures fall in the morning, evening or at night depending on the day; the times for the next few days are in the timetable.
On board
The route is served by the Sicilia and the Volcán de Tamadaba, with the Volcán de Tinamar on some days. The Sicilia takes a good six hours, the Volcán de Tamadaba around eight. All are large vehicle ferries with cabins, seating areas, a cafeteria and outdoor decks; for the overnight sailing, book a cabin as an add-on to your ticket, while a seat is enough by day. Payment is in euros, by card.
Vehicles, bicycles and pets
Cars, motorhomes, caravans, motorbikes and bicycles travel along; vehicle type, dimensions and registration plate go into the booking. With a rental car you need the hire company's consent, and many exclude travel to another island. You register pets when booking and choose, depending on the ship, between a Pet&You mat next to your seat, a kennel on deck, or a pet-friendly cabin. Arrival in Arrecife and onward travel
The ferry docks at the Muelle de Los Mármoles, Lanzarote's main port on the northern edge of Arrecife. It's a few minutes by taxi or bus to the centre and the Charco de San Ginés. The LZ-2 leads to the airport and to Playa Blanca in the south, around 35 minutes away; the LZ-1 heads north to Órzola, the port for La Graciosa. Back from Lanzarote to Gran Canaria
The return from Arrecife to Las Palmas runs on the same ships in six to six and a half hours, likewise once on most days. Check-in deadlines apply in both directions: 60 minutes without and 90 minutes with a vehicle. The next departures from Arrecife are shown in the timetable.

Tickets are available online, in the app and at the port desks. Canary Islands residents get a 75 percent state discount, and Baleària Canarias offers a fare with free cancellation and cabins as an add-on. From Las Palmas to Arrecife in a good six hours
Between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Arrecife, Baleària Canarias runs the archipelago's long route: a good six hours on the Sicilia, around eight hours on the Volcán de Tamadaba, with a departure most days, around eight a week. Some sailings run by day, some overnight.
Both ships have cabins and a vehicle deck, and the route runs all year round. With a car, going via Fuerteventura is often faster: cross to Morro Jable, drive up the island to Corralejo and across the Bocaina to Playa Blanca.
