La Graciosa has been the eighth officially inhabited Canary Island since 2018. It lies less than two kilometres off the northern tip of Lanzarote, and the ferry across the El Río channel is the only way over.
Lanzarote from Órzola
Two ferry companies sail from Órzola to Caleta de Sebo, La Graciosa's only village and port. Líneas Romero sails the AlexandroR around eight times a day, Biosfera Express about as often; together that's around 16 crossings a day, all year round, 25 minutes. The ferries carry only passengers and bicycles. Tickets are available online from both companies and at the port, and you can take the return sailing with any ferry of the company you booked.
Getting there and parking in Órzola
Órzola is a small fishing village with parking right at the port. From Arrecife it's around 35 kilometres via the LZ-1 and the LZ-201 through Haría, from the airport around 40 minutes. Travelling without a car, you can take the bus from Arrecife with a change in the north; the timings don't line up with every ferry, so it's worth checking the bus timetable before you set off.
Without a car on La Graciosa
The island has no paved roads, and private vehicles aren't allowed. Between Caleta de Sebo, the beaches and the second hamlet of Pedro Barba, you get around on foot, by bicycle or with the licensed 4x4 taxis that meet the ferries at the port. For the Playa de las Conchas in the north, allow around 45 minutes by bike, a good two hours on foot. If you want to see the island in a day, take one of the early ferries and the second-to-last one back.
