Getting There and the Los Cristianos Terminal
The ferries depart from the port of Los Cristianos in Arona, with the terminal on Calle del Espigón at the end of the beach promenade. From Tenerife South Airport it's around 20 minutes by car, taxi or bus to the town; from the TF-1 motorway, follow the signs for Puerto. Fred Olsen Express and Baleària Canarias both have sales desks in the terminal; foot passengers go straight to boarding with a printed or mobile boarding pass.
Check-in and Departure
Deadlines differ by operator. Under Fred Olsen Express's conditions of carriage, you need to be ready to board 20 minutes before departure, or be at the quay 40 minutes beforehand with a vehicle. Baleària Canarias requires 60 minutes without and 90 minutes with a vehicle on its Canary Islands routes. Have your ID or passport ready, as operators check it when boarding; residents show proof of address for the discount.
On Board
Fred Olsen Express operates the fast catamarans Benchijigua Express, Bencomo Express or Barlovento Express, while Baleària Canarias uses Pepita Castellví or Volcán de Tirajana. For a 50-minute crossing you won't need a cabin; there are lounge seating, a cafeteria and an outer deck on board. Payment is in euros, by card.
Vehicles, Bicycles and Pets
Both operators carry cars, motorhomes, motorbikes and bicycles; the registration number needs to go in the booking. With a rental car from Tenerife, check the rental agreement beforehand, as many rental companies exclude the crossing. Register pets when booking: Fred Olsen Express carries them in their own crate in the lounge, in Pet Rooms on deck or on the Pet Sofa, while Baleària Canarias offers Pet&You mats next to your seat or quiet kennels. Arrival in San Sebastián and Onward Travel
San Sebastián de La Gomera is the island capital and ferry port in one, with the Estación Marítima right in the town. Island buses and taxis run from the port, and car rental desks are near the harbour. Fred Olsen Express continues on to Valle Gran Rey and Playa Santiago with its coastal ferry, the most convenient connection to the south of the island without a car.

Both operators sell tickets online and at the counter. Canary Islands residents get the official discount of 75 percent, and Fred Olsen Express also offers a large-family discount.
